Emmanuelle Renard

My story begins in the African bush. My grandfather having built factories in Togo and Benin, I spent my childhood between dry and wet seasons, marabouts and fetishes, mangoes and yarns.

After a hurried return to France, and hesitations between North and South, a university exchange brought me to Montreal. Three winters white and cold, and I was on the road again. Westward this time. To Vancouver where I have lived with my partner for the past 12 years, and where my two daughters were born.

Geographer, painter, print maker, I started research around the theme of "erosion" using limestone, limestone derived materials and natural pigments as medium: frescoes, venetian paster, tadelakt, lithography.
